Kobe Air Balls With Homophobic Slur

Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers received a technical foul last night in a game against the San Antonio Spurs. Kobe was later filmed on the bench calling the referee the homophobic slur in question. Check it out.

Does this warrant further league action?

  1. You know, I expect that kind of language at Denny’s. Not at the Staples Center.

  2. And there it is Kobe gets slapped with a $100,000 fine! Who’s a f*% now Kobe?

  3. Maybe I just missed it but is there actually audio of the word coming out of Kobe’s mouth? It’s pretty easy to lip read that one but still. And the best part of the video isn’t Kobe, it’s the colour guy suggesting that they take the camera off Kobe just in case there are kids watching. How did he pick up on that so fast?

Also, I think this incident speaks to the one-and-down college rule. These guys need to go to college. Kobe came straight out of high school and never got to experience college. Aside from missing out on all of the experiences of college, he obviously did not have an opportunity to hang around enough bright and respectful people to understand that this type of behavior is not acceptable. Sure, in junior high, everybody was doing it. In high school, most people stopped with only the ignorant keeping it in their vocab repertoire. I’m not saying you have to go to college or university to learn manners, he maybe could have bettered himself with some life experience away from the basketball court. What excuse could a thirty-something possibly have for making such an ignorant remark?

Enough serious stuff. Rumour has it that after the fine came down and Kobe started considering the endorsement money he’s going to lose over this, he muttered, “I should have just slept with another under-age hotel receptionist.”

  4. Zing! Wow Dallas you went there well done good sir. This is such a non Kobe move or action I found it bizzare and hard to believe

  5. I wonder how big the diamond ring is that the ref will get?
